I have had sooo much to do recently. Until last night I felt like I hadn't slept properly in about a week, although it was probably only three or four days.
On Thursday night I stayed up to watch the election results, which was completely pointless as nothing was decided. I don't even care about politics, it's just that the rest of my flat were staying up so I thought I would, and then I got into it and really wanted to see the results for Ceredigion (Lib Dem) and Wycombe (Conservative). I gave up and went to bed just after 3am though, so I didn't actually see the Wycombe result, but Drew stayed up til like 5am and he came and told me when Wycombe was announced.
On Friday morning I went food shopping because I knew I wouldn't have time on Saturday morning when I normally go. Then I wrote up my CV and a covering letter to hand in for a job in the Arts Centre. That's the second job I've applied to so far, and I plan to apply to at lest two more before the exams, possibly four if I find time to do the more complicated ones. Friday night was the May Ball. That was fairly exciting. I wore my pale blue dress (the one I wore to my sixth form ball). I had a bit of a problem finding shoes to go with it, because I knew the ball was outside so high heels wouldn't be suitable, but the pair of flat shoes I bought to wear looked really silly and left my dress trailing along the floor. I was quite worried about what I was going to do, but then on Thursday while I was waiting for my prescription to be ready in Boots I just popped across the road to Oxfam, and I found the perfect pair of shoes, for only £4.99! They were black and strappy, with a heel just big enough so my dress didn't trail on the floor, but small enough that I could walk in them, even on difficult ground. They're actually a size 5 and I'm a 6, so I was so lucky they fit. Then at 5:30pm on Friday I had to rush out to find a shop still open that sold blue-green nail varnish that would go with my make-up and hair clip. Again I was lucky, the lady in Peacocks told me they'd only just got that colour in that morning. So then I rushed about getting ready and trying to eat dinner (that Drew made) before the taxi picked us up at 7pm to take us to were the coaches were leaving from. The ball itself wasn't that great. I mean it was OK, we got to see Feeder and watch people with pretty dresses. But I only really knew three of the Feeder songs, we missed S Club 3, which I was looking forward to, and I never really liked balls anyway because there's nothing to do! Except for going on fairground rides or bungee jumping, neither of which I felt like. So Drew and I left at 2am. We were going to have our photo taken, but we only realised on the way out where the photographer was, which was a shame.
On Saturday Drew's parents came up to visit. So I spent the morning cleaning up my flat, because we'd decided it was better to send them there than to let them see the state his flat is in at the moment. They took us out for a meal in a pub near where they were staying. It was nice, but the pub only had these tiny little tables for us to eat at. Also I'm sure I heard one of Drew's parents saying there was a lot of choice on the menu, which I didn't agree with at all. It's probably because I'm used to going to restaurants to eat out at, not pubs. We had to go to a pub though because we needed somewhere where the dog was allowed. I've had so many arguments with Drew about dogs in the last few days, it's silly. I don't mind dogs, but the more time I spend with his parents and his dog the more I think I'd get totally fed up of always having to find something to do with the dog if we ever got one. Cats are just so much easier to deal with.
Yesterday it was Drew's birthday. So he kept me up til 2am the night before because he was all excited and wanted to talk about Biology for some bizarre reason. In the morning his parents came round to mine again and he opened his presents. He seems pretty happy with what everyone got him. Then his parents took us out to Borth for an hour or so, which I realised when we got there was really for an extended dog walk. It was good though, nice and sunny. So last night we went out for quiet drinks with some of Drew's friends. I was worried it was going to turn into Drew-getting-really-trashed drinks, but it didn't. Which was good, because I was so tired by then I was practically falling asleep at the table.
So now I've finally had a decent amount of sleep I should be getting on with some work and some more CV writing. I have a lab report due in for 9am on Thursday and my dissertation presentation I think is one Wednesday. I just went to check that but it turns out the bloke who sent us the e-mail about it sent the attachment in .docx format, which I can't open on my laptop. That's another thing that's been pissing me off recently.
This Friday is the SSAGO AGM, so from then on I will no longer be AberSSAGO President :-( And on the 17th my exams start. I have four exams in six days, and then I'm finished on the 22nd. Which I think is a silly arrangement, because it gives us barely any time for revision. It has made it possible for me to come back to Wycombe early though. I will be in Wycombe from the 29th May to the 4th June, then I'm going to Cardiff to see a rugby match with Drew and possibly also the Doctor Who exhibition, then I'll be back in Wycombe from the 7th to the 14th June.
After that my plan is to come back to Aber and find a job and somewhere to live for the next year. Unless I manage to get that sorted before I leave, which is looking unlikely.
So, yup, that's the plan. Sorry this has been such a long post, but I felt it was necessary to catch you all up on what's going on in my life.
