Last night I got to live out my dream of standing up on a chair in a room containing 200+ people with a microphone to criticize a band that had just played and was looking at me hoping I'd say something nice. I got booed. But that was part of the dream anyway.

Well, there was a "Battle of the Bands" at The Gargoyle last night. With a lot of free beer. At some point, I decided to drunkenly self-appoint myself as one of the judges. The judge of "Pitchfork Potential" as thought up by the (also drunk) kid sitting next to me. The one band I judged sounded like something of a cross between Dave Matthews and Ben Folds. Clearly they're going nowhere on Pitchfork. And so...

It should also be noted that I ended my (now forgotten) rant with "And other pretentious bullshit" before handing off the mic to the next judge. At least three people told me that they liked this.
