Great thoughts. I def. feel that I have learned much more out of the classroom and inside the classroom. there is so much to experience and enjoy in college but lots of times i think people forget that and worry about the future. i am reminded of a quote i once heard: yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery. today is a gift. that's why it's called the present :) Thank you for the reminder and for being an amazing friend as well! hope you are having an amazing summer and can't wait to be back home in the fall :D take care!

If I may, for a moment, address nugget of wisdom #2. I don't believe that anyone, when complaining to you about their workload, is using your "happiness as a scapegoat". If I complain to you about my life, it's triggered by my unhappiness rather than your happiness- and what are friends for if not to help hold eachother up? Also, if you invite people to do an activity, and they can't because of work (which I'm sure happens fairly often, at least with me), I don't think they intend to insult you by saying that they're unavailable.

Speaking as an ambassador from the cranky-workaholic group, I hope this clears things up a bit. I'm not indignant or angry or anything, just trying to explain another angle that this could be seen from.

I used that expression on purpose and not in direct reference to anyone in particular. The reason I say that is because of a curious inquiry with another person often in similar situations a being a different major with a hard, time consuming, and tedious worload at times. This was the feedback I received. So I figure, each may have his or her own way of looking at things- this was just one, or perhaps more, person's way of looking at the situation.
