Overheard in the Grocery Store...

"...But you do realize that black people don't tell on each other? I just learned about it a little while ago, it's some code that they all have. Even if they see another black person kill someone, it is against the code to turn them in. I can't believe it!"

...um...WTF? Any thoughts?

More later...

You've never heard of that? Snitching is like, the worst thing that one could potentially do in a "ghetto" environment. Saying that "all black people" do it is obviously an over-generalization, but it's actually a huge problem in most urban environments.

Yea, I knew it was a thing in neighborhoods, but the hasty generalization threw me...

Silly me, little white suburban kid...I tell on all murderers, my bad...

this person got this from the daily show. They have a black correspondent now and they did a segment on street crime in black neighborhoods. Something about "street cred(ibility)" and such.

it supposed to be humorous and sarcastic, but as always with the daily show there is some element of truth too it.
