hmmm

Angelina Jolie was on The Daily Show the other night, and, strangely enough, it turns out she and Jon Stewart are old friends or something. I was kind of weirded out by the overt buddy-buddyness that was going on, but I was even more squickified by how thin Jolie is. Her arms looked like they were going to snap in half with the strain of signing ( Read more... )

They were in Playing By Heart together. Good movie, by the way.

I figured it was something like that--they alluded to working together. Silly me, for not IMDBing right away. The odd part, though, wasn't that they were old friends: it was the worship factor of jon + the audience. Maybe she just has supernatural powers of hotness.

haha--I can appreciate her unnatural levels of attractiveness, def. But Jon Stewart will beat AJ on my list any day. :D

I saw that. I was a little surprised by the way Jon was jokingly hitting on her, it seemed a little strange to me. Even though she is the hottest thing since sliced bread, she's slightly desexualized in my mind because of her humanitarian work and her motherhood. She's just so much more than something to oogle at, and it was weird to see that happening.

Yeah. I mean, it wasn't creepy or anything, and of course Stewart found newer and funnier ways of doing the 'Angelina is Hot' bit than anyone has before, but it still says something interesting, I think.

And, to be fair, he has said before that his first and foremost duty is to the comedy aspect of the show. Obviously, even just in that interview, he has a huge amount of respect for her as a human being and her work. But...when it comes down to it, as far as the Larger Audience is concerned, she is known as the Sexiest Thing On Two Legs. All her accomplishments take a backseat to her genetic gifts.

Hey, random comments are excellent, esp. when coming from a recently-discovered source of excellence! Please invade this blog whenever you like. Hello, I'm Kate. :D

Yeah, her weight scares me. So many absolutely perfect women in the acting world seem to push themselves to a state of emaciation. More than the actresses themselves, however, I think the demands of the industry they're in (and the society at large) are to blame. Men can get old and chubby and still be leading men & sex symbols--women are often forced into the aunt/mother/friend roles when they crack thirty-five.

Oh, yeah! The reaction of the crowd when he said Angelina Jolie would be there the next night was hilarious. Giant groan, like he'd just given homework.

"Tomorrow night! Angelina Jolie will--"

[Audience: OHHHHH No you didn't]

"-Angelina Jolie will be here to discuss her new film and....tonight's audience's disappointment."

Yeah, I saw that episode, and am glad you thought the same thing as me. She was uber uber skinny. Her whole arm was no bigger than her wrist. She is so beautiful, but being that skinny messed with her face and curves.hmmm... I wonder though if it was just for her movie roll?

I don't think so...she's been that way for ages. I can understand craziness for the sake of a role (even if it scares me--re: Christian Bale in The Machinist), but I don't think that's the case here.

In other news: Betsy! I miss you!
