This is exactly why you shouldn't bring a car to NYC.

"In Houston, $225,000 will buy a three-bedroom house with a game room, den, in-ground pool and hot tub.

In Manhattan, it will buy a parking space."

The car in that picture looks abnormally long. Is it even a car, or a cousin of the Weiner Mobile?

Also: there is absolutely no reason why anyone should own a car in Manhattan, let alone pay $200,000+ for a parking space. Subways and cabs aside, you could probably hire a town car to cart you around for the same amount as that. But what do I know? I'm just a lowly peasant who walks everywhere...

True dat. Granted, I'm a plebian as well, but you'd be fine living almost anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn without a car. Plus, think of the gas money you'd save! It's just not worth it.

I just read that article this morning.

I don't understand how people can think themselves to be this entitled. Seriously?Heaven for-fucking-bid you should have to walk a few blocks after you've had dinner or (GASP! horror of horrors) carry something. I will freely admit that even I don't strictly "need" a car, that it's a luxury, and I don't even live wihtin the five boroughs. As it is, I don't dream of driving into Manhattan anywhere that isn't right off the Henry Hudson/West Side Highway. BECAUSE IT'S STUPID TO DRIVE DOWN THERE. GOD PEOPLE WITH MONEY DRIVE ME NUTS.

Also, for $1000 a month, you can rent a villa in Athens with a pool and a view of the sea. What the fuck am I doing here? :-P
