To save time and sanity, I'm marking everything I've read enough of to get a real feel for with an X as well (half ish, or less but couldn't bear to read more without my brain exploding).  I will not be marking those I read children's versions of with an X.

I've read about ten of them, but I'd note that there's not even one science book in there, not even Flatland. Then again, it looks like it's a fiction list, so I guess I shouldn;t be too surprised, and I guess I'd rather meet someone who was part of at least one of the Two Cultures (lecture series by CP Snow about the distance between humanities and Science folks).

I figure I got jilted on a couple of these- it only took me five pages of "Tess" to figure out I never wanted to read any more of it, so I didn't think I could check it. And I've read "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson but haven't even heard of this other book on the list. And Narnia and LW&W are listed separately, which seems ridiculous- but then Hamlet and Shakespeare's Works are too. I was thrilled to see Dune on it, though. :)
