I love what-if stories, they hold so much potential to go anywhere the writer wants them to, and comparing them to canon is so much fun.
I like how you write the relationship between John and Mary, how Mary is the stricter parent between the two, how Jon fought to retain their innocence longer, how equal they are in the partnership. The similarity about how they neglect Sam and Dean are also highlighted.
I also like how similar you wrote about the boys' relationship, the same dependence on each other, throughout their whole lives. The Sam/Dean is not so obvious, and I do think that any reader who reads only gen would be able to slide past the pairing pretty easily.
