Tonight I saw Jane Elliott speak. And it was amazing.

Following is the list of notes I made during her speech.

WARNING:  The following may cause offense.  I've warned you.

-Homosexuals: then don't have sex with one! It's none of your business!
-30,000 Iraqis vs. 3,000 in the WTC. Abortion? Purposeful killing?
-If you don't want one, don't have one ( Read more... )

It was the most amazing three hours of my life. After you left, she launched into her Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes thing, and it was pretty wild. I can't even believe it. They showed the movie, and that was crazy, too. I just left feeling so enthuiastic.

I notice alot of your notes (unless taken incorrectly) have some hints of propaganda that can easily be argued.. For instance:

-W: More executions in Texas than any other state. Likes to kill?

The problem here is that they are not giving all the facts. How many people are convicted compared to other states that have the death penalty. How big are the waiting lists here vs other states. There is alot to consider but im glad you enjoyed yourself.

Or I didn't jot down all the notes since she was talking so fast and I was trying to just get the main point.

it's kind of an opinion thing. I could dig up about a thousand speakers who would present facts disproving about 80% of what she has to say(according to your notes). as for the other 20 percent I agree with her, but could still probably find a few hundred other notable speakers who would disagree with her.

just one note as an EMT

"You have the right to commit suicide by your mouth if you want to, but you don't have the right to commit murder."

you actually have no right to commit suicide, it's against the law, and if you attempt to commit it you waive your rights just like a murderer.

But they can't prosecute you if you kill yourself. Attempt, sure. Actually do, no way.

what I was saying is that under the law, you have as much right to commit suicide as you do murder. getting convicted or not doesn't have anything to do with it. I was pointing out that her statement was incorrect. you have just as much right to commit suicide as you do murder, and that is, no right at all legaly.

I don't think she was talking about under the law. I don't really think that matters to this lady at all. I know she was talking about second-hand smoking around children, and when you talk morals, her statement was pretty darn correct. It isn't necessarily morally correct to commit suicide, but mortal moral judgements don't matter much if one actually does it. Murder is morally "bad" in most, if not all, societies of the world.

i'm smarter than god. thats for damn sure.

oh and this:
-The first humans were black. As they moved away from the equator, their skin adapted and became lighter.

umm, obviously we are "superior" because we are a newer breed. darwinian evolution is a bitch
