TFA is essentially a charity effort, ne? If they've got so many applicants that they can turn away qualified people because of their political beliefs, your efforts may be best spent elsewhere. Why not just get a job teaching in a tough Seattle school? Same effect on kids, no TFA BS?
I was talking to my chem TA today, and he said his wife did TFA. He said she thought it was OK, but was really lucky that she ended up in Manhattan and not, say, Baltimore. (His words.)
I told him how I felt guilty for not applying, but then he said that the recruiters get paid per recruit. So now I don't feel so bad.
Now you can join me in my quest to get teaching credentials, although you will have the upper hand in that you have lab experience. So maybe you'll end up teaching at my old high school before I do.
Or you can just take next year off and play Wii all the time. I think that's what I'm going to do.
