Does your daughter have digital phone service? If not, maybe she should look into it... Mine costs me $39 a month and all long distance calls in the US and Canada are free of charge, but calls to most other countries range from 5 cents to 9 cents a minute (England is 7 cents)... not a bad deal.

Now my daughter has the iBook computer I have set up iChat on it for her, with an iSight webcam and we've already had successful, FREE, video conferences. Because I have a Mac as well, and we both have broadband, our computers are compatible and it's just wonderful being able to talk and see each other for free any time we want.
There are more problems chatting between Macs and Pcs, but those will get ironed out in time I should think. Hopefully there will come a day when no-one will have to pay bloody telephone bills.
My daughter is awful with computers. I've already had about three help sessions with her - she didn't even know how to shut it down properly. I suspect sometimes she isn't really my daughter, but I think she just takes after her father. He's still living in the middle ages and only just discovered how to turn the light switch on at the wall. Luckily he's not living with me any more.
