I missed you; v. glad to hear you're okay. Sometimes it is best to let LJ slip into the white noise for a little while. Hope everything picks up. The Social Services thing...my god, what the hell?
Nice to be missed. Yeah, white noise, I know what you mean. Everything else just got on top of me for a while there, and that list was just the half of it. We have an office-move, and the builders found a gas leak in my house, too!
But all sorted now, and the Social Services have finally assessed Gramps and agreed he needs help. Now all we need to do is convince HIM he needs help.
RL gets a bit much sometimes. Come back white noise, all is forgiven.
Oh dear, Social Services is utter crap even here. When my grandmother was in the hospital, it was the same sort of situation, where the hospital messed up, then the other people refused to 'clean up' after them, leaving us in the lurch. Then she wound up back in there and there was this really snooty doctor who asked me why I couldn't be my grandmother's caretaker since I'm 'young and healthy' and evidently being the breadwinner in the family doesn't count. Bastards! I hope everything will get sorted out here, dearest.
Congrats on the new position at work. I completely relate to having tons more to do!
What are the builders doing to your house now?
*hugs* *hugs* *hugs* LJ will be here, and so will I. :~)
I think the bastards are the same the world over - but how old people survive who haven't any family to make a fuss I don't know. That's what worries me. That and the fact that they aren't even apologetic about their ineptitude - they're aggressive, if anything. Like you say, they think if you are around and related to the person that you should take the whole problem off their hands. What the fuck do they think we pay our taxes for!
Have got Gramps sorted now, but it took many phone calls and rising of blood pressures before we did.
The builders are finding gas leaks, making a new kitchen, building a fireplace and putting in a partition wall.
