If you need to have a c-section,that's one thing,
hell if you've been in labour for days on end and are in extreme pain to the point of passing out, sure take the pain meds, but to plan a c-section to avoid the pain? GEEZ,If you don't want to "deal" with the pain that childbirth brings, don't get pregnant.
I mean seriously,it's called labour,not "easy".

Besides, in NATURAL childbirth the pain is PASSING. The pain of a C/S can be a few days or a lifetime. I don't know if you know anything about Devlin's birth, but the attending doctor told me that I had so much scar tissue from Cecilia's emergency c/s that I have to AVOID getting pregnant for the rest of our lives. grrrr Devlin was breech and I had done everything I could to flip him and signed all the papers, did the VBAC class, etc. His c/s was one of the worst experiences of. my. life.

Can you tell I'm wounded much?

Damned. I just cannot take ignorance. I wonder how she feels about her scar. bwuahahahaha Vanity kills.

I have nothing to compare it to,i've only had two natural child births, but the pain does pass.
To be honest, for me,the pain was in the contractions, not even in the actual birth.
With all the hype on tv etc of childbirth,i thought it would be way more painful.
I actually remember saying "that's it?" to ottis after christian was born..i expected it to be way worse.

The scars are small now,i hear,so maybe it won't bother her :0(

If i were a dr,i'd make the scar HUGE if the person didn't actually need a c-sec,and opted for one.

argh
My scar isn't huge. It was a bikini cut both times. We're going to get a second opinioin as soon as we change insurances. I just can't take this doctor's word for it because she is a Kaiser doctor. My first c/s was rushed because they were trying to save Cecilia's life, and mine for that matter. Don't get me started on the use of pitocin, internal fetal monitoring, etc etc etc. GRRRR Sometimes your ignorance is preyed upon by medical professionals. The nurse attending Cecilia's birth DID NOT SPEAK TO ME. I would look at her, blatantly address her by name and ask her a question. All I EVER heard was, "I have to go see/get your doctor." B*tch. <--I don't use that term lightly.

/end ranting

I hope. :P

What really bothers me about that is what a blow that is to natural birth. Thousands of young impressionable women are going to think, "oh noes! childbirth sucks! brittney said so?"

You know how I feel about that? If you are above going through labor, no one is forcing you to get pregnant :P

Having a C Section for a medical need is one thing. Having a C Section just for the fuck of it is another, and it's disgusting. Even more disgusting that a doctor agreed to do it. *rolls eyes*

I was thinking the same thing. All those gilrs who look up to her thinking "yeah! no labor pain for me!" I mean, okay, some ppl want to have an epi. Whatever. But you don't fricking throw around comments like THAT, especially when impressionable young women are hanging on your every word! ugh ugh ugh!

I had seen a similar comment in an article and was thinking of it today as I walked. So sad! So stupid! But then I guess I wasn't really expecting intelligence from that source

Guess that is what happens when you see your body as only decorative, instead of realizing that it is functional as well.

As someone said above, the pain of natural childbirth passes. I've got the consequences of my C-section following me around for as long as I want to have kids.
