dicken's let down

Dec 14, 2009 10:14

So R and I went to Dicken's yesterday and I was sort of disappointed. I couldn't find some people and some stuff I was hoping to see. Maybe my bloodsugar was low. Maybe in comparison to the wonderful time I had Friday night with some friends decorating the tree- or Saturday with my sister-in-law or Saturday night at the union party or with friends ( Read more... )

I was happy to see R and sorry to miss you. I think you were at French Postcards when I ran into him.
I think some of R's enthusiasm for Dickens might have been due to the fact that the bar staff at Mad Sal's were pouring him Irish Coffees (caffeine + booze! Wheee!) and refusing to take his money. Once the buzz wears off he might be less enthused with the idea.

I forgot about the caffiene with the whiskey being a factor. He is always a little more rambunctious when its a booze/caffiene combo. Maybe it was also the contrast in our moods. I looked for you a couple times at the Prince Edward (next to Green Man- right name? Right bar?) and for a few other folks. Some I saw- some I didn't. I didn't get to see you or Clare or Tyger or a few other people I wanted to say hey to- and I wanted to get a new belt but the ones at Oberon were sort of cheaply made compared to how they used to be made. I think I was low energy and he was high energy. And his old co-worker friends spent a lot of time talking to him about coming back to the fold. I think he is less enthusiastic today - but was gung ho with bells on last night.

I am working at the Leather Bottle, which is the bar up front near Fezziwig's. I did work at Prince Eddie's last year though.

Also, come to think of it, unless it was one of the managers, I don't know if the staff at Mad Sal's has the authority to offer R a job for next weekend, especially if he doesn't already have a pass or a costume. My impression is that it's not that casual, and that you have to work up to a certain level of seniority and expertise, over a couple years, to get a coveted place at that bar. So if he shows up for the last weekend and they let him work there, other people might resent it.
Or, maybe it's fine. What do I know?

I think its his own guild that offered him a pass for the weekend. I don't think its a job so much as wander around in costume drinking being entertaining... I don't know if he'll actually do it. I am sorry to have missed you- I should have asked at the bar then I would have known to look elsewhere to see you.
