My son had tubes put in his ears yesterday, and he's already a changed little man. Of course, he was supremely hacked off for being submitted to the procedure and (as far as I could interpret) consigned us and all the nurses to the deepest levels of purgatory, but after a good nap he was...happy. We had an explosion of speech with Danny when he had his put in.

The same thing happened with Kellie. Her speech stagnated at 13 months, and then exploded after she'd had her tubes in. She actually only had 1 ear infection ever, but after a bout with RSV, she had fluid in her ears and heard as if she was underwater.

I'm glad to hear that it went well. I was thinking about you guys.

Thanks for the kind thoughts! Yeah, after he forgave us, he started to do really well. It would be great if this would help his speech. He speaks in one word commands, while his little cousin who's his age says things like, "These are my purple pants. I'm going to wear them tomorrow." I guess boys start speaking later, though.

Made a huge difference to my niece too - she had them when she was three. She'd always had ear infections, one ofter the other, and these transformed her life (and her parents'!)

A benefit not to be underestimated! ;) Yes, our house is much quieter now.

Thank you! It's amazing how much a cranky toddler can affect the whole household. We're quite happy to have the pleasant little guy back. :)
