Well metafiction is just that - metafiction.I liked what you said about his father's private struggle. I could really see his struggle to cope with day to day life. His books, cigarettes, radio, and his room being his only solice. I think he loved his children immensely too. What do you think?

I am in complete agreement- I think he loved his wife too- enough so that he didn't leave for a life he would have been better suited physically and mentally.

personally didn't even think about the struggle between the parents for the use of intellectuality but now i totally see that you are right. smart interpretation!

Oh, I love Tom Stoppard, and R &G are Dead is an awesome play. Good example of metafiction, too!
