Question for you or your modly friends: say I join, and I pick...I dunno...Harry/Draco. Given how many fics there are for such out there, would I have to read through any previous posts for H/D in The Crack Broom and make I didn't accidentally overlap?
In short, yes. However, it's not quite as arduous as it sounds. Right now they have all previously recced works listed by pairing under memories at the comm, so a quick skim can give you the information without needing to wade through all the full entries. You can sort it by title/description to check even more efficiently. (The mods are actually in the process of creating an off-site database, which will make it even easier. You will then be able to search by title, creator, etc. That is not complete yet though.) Also, you are allowed to rec up to two previously recced works each month if you choose.
I have never done a very popular pairing, as I prefer my rare pairs, so it's always been extremely easy to check, because there are so few entries. So it's never taken me more than a minute or two to check. I usually paste the template coding into a word document and fill out my recs ahead of time whenever I have a few free moments so that it's very easy to post quickly throughout the month.
Intriguing. I'm going to give this more thought tomorrow, especially since I thought I saw I could sign up for future slots (which would be ideal for me, if I did this, because I'm about to move several hours away and begin the second round of summer classes).
Thank you for posting about this! I love rare pairs like you do, and they need more recs. :)
