Just when I thought I was getting somewhere with the stupid borkiness, it goes and confuses me again! It appears it was not the hacks I had installed that were causing the borkiness, but some of my other downloads. I've only gotten part-way through my reinstallation of my downloads and already there's so much borkiness in CAS. Luckily there isn't

((hugs)) it's a painful process finding problem cc. Are you doing the 50/50 method? I find that by far the most accurate way.

What is involved in the 50/50 methods?

When you really don't know where the file is, you pull half of your download folder and test with the half that is left. If that is fine, swap them around so the other half is tested. That should show you which half has the bad file and then you progressively halve and test until you are down to two files. Often it seems the bad file likes to be in the last little chunk. Oh yeah fun... The only time this method isn't foolproof is, if if you have two perfectly working hacks, but together they clash. That can take awhile to figure out as both halves can work fine until you put them together.

Finding the file that's causing the problem is never fun. I had to do that recently, and the problem was actually the very last file I had to test. (Not as in "I stopped afterwards" but as in "there are no more files left.") I did some very creative swearing, and it really helped...
