Shriners are Wonderful!

Ya gotta love genetics. My son has a congenital problem with his toenails. He has already had them removed twice while he was a baby. Over the past couple of years his nails have gotten very bad, to the point of growing down into his toes on all three sides. Thankfully, the Shriner's Hospital here in Greenville will be doing the surgery for free. ( Read more... )

My nephew had a life-saving surgery when he was about 8 to correct a severe birth defect in which his sternum was pressed into his chest cavity, putting pressure on his heart. Shriners took care of the whole thing.

Tell Jim that hard-core endurance runners (The guys who run 200 mile races and stuff) often have their toenails removed so they don't cause problems for them when they're racing. This is a tuff guy surgery.
