No kidding. The almighty Historic Structures Architect at 'the museum' is dying to go look at it for us. He says it may be something that one of the interns can use for experience credit...Trained help :-)
If you buy it can I come live with you?spoon_o_doomJanuary 24 2008, 23:12:18 UTC
Very pretty house & setting. Gaylen thinks the window replacements aren't that big of a deal. He has been replacing the windows all by himself one at a time in our rickety old house. Scared me to death when he did the one upstairs.

God knows there's enough room.
Gaylen is handy. Gaylen can build things. Akira is an MBA for a reason. :-) I love my MBA boy, but he's not what you'd call especially handy.
OTH, maybe you kids could come out for a couple days, and we could get a crash course! I can do tile, paint, plaster and refinish wood. My carpentry skills aren't that great, though, and I'm really ignorant about cutting trim. It's the whole learning disability w/ spatial relationships thing. I just need to learn how, with someone who won't mind me being slow. I mean, I can do a dovetail join, and I can manage a butt joint, but I can't do inside or outside bevels.
Last night I realized I thinking about finding appropriate tile to lay in the big downstairs bath. I think I'm getting into the whole idea now.
WOW! this DOES sound like th eAddams family mansion! I was just kidding..but woooo!!! Still, it could be good projects, an dvery invovling, an dcrative. Tha tshower business sound sjust stupifying! WOW! Amazing , all around! Do you think you wil buy it. to remale it?
*smiles* Seriously, we're VERY happy for you guys - go for it! And CALL ME when you start paintin' n' shit...we'll get that all whipped out in no time! :-D
But even with all the scary, I like it. And Mike loves it. And, you know, reducing his commute by over half to some of our offices (our family business is a tax service) and by 3/4 to others...that's nothing to take lightly.

I really think this is The One. It's the only one we've seen that I thought, while walking in the door, "Oh. I could live here."
