Going back to Philly tomorrow, so today was errand day. I took my car for an oil change and some other maintenance work (newsflash: cars are expensive!), got myself some new jeans and undies and that sort of thing ( Read more... )

It really *is* sad. Although perhaps the smaller independent bookstores will have a boost? Amazon deals are great, but nothing can replace perusing the shelves at one's leisure.

most of our indie bookstores now are used, which is nice.

We went to the Borders near us that's closing, too. We bought a box of four Dora books for Abby...and then on the way home opened it to find 2 of the books missing. David pointed out that such a thing would never happen with an Amazon purchase.

sad, true, and not sad all at the same time. some things get better, get easier, & things we've become accustomed to go away. i'm not without nostalgia, but i do like my free shipping. i wonder if this is better or worse for the enviornment.
