That kid was so dedicated.
It's hard to find that kind of dedication, especially in a human, selfish creatures that they were. It couldn't be bought, begged, stolen or blackmailed. It came from that sense of moral obligation. Something he had never cared for.
But, no denying results.
And that Sammy, what a gem he was. Perfect for all his mechinations. Far better than Morgan, it was obvious now. Morgan was just another dud, in a long line of duds. Dedication, ha! He had none. Only a self serving nature that was exactly like his father's.
They were too much alike. Morgan had that wonderful quality of aspiration, the 'elbow-you-in-the-gut-to-get-ahead' kind if charm that he loved. But what happens when Morgan's second from the top? A rebellion, and he did not need another one of those.
But Sammy? He'd toil away, and never want more.
Sam was reliable. Someone who he didn't have to hand-hold, capable of swimming with the sharks. He could be counted to get the job done on time, despite his penchant for whining.
It was constant.
Whining never helped anyone. Would Alexander the Great have conquered half the world if he'd whined about being gay?
No.
He loved the way Sammy's face fell and then became irritated when he came to visit. Not afraid. Annoyed. It was a kicker. Young kids these days, no one around to scare the fear of Him into them. It made his job so much easier. He laughed.
Sam was dedicated;
Dedicated to his annoyance.
Dedicated to those moronic friends of his. To the girl he'll never have.
Dedicated to reaping. To the innocent.
Dedicated to that despicable moral high ground.
And it wouldn't take long before Samuel Oliver was wholly dedicated to serving Satan.
For the purposes of good, of course.
