fashion...sort of...

My ten year old wore her straw cowboy hat to school the other day. She also had on a camo skirt and a white tshirt. I thought she looked cute so I didn't tell her not to wear it. Apparently, according to my friends daughter, people were laughing at her and Annie didn't care. When I was told this, I said good for her. She's bold. I'm glad she has ( Read more... )

We pretty much agree completely.

A little while back, the wife and I were talking, and we were regretting the way we were trying to get her to curb her bad habits, such as making weird noises and spazzing out. We told her that kids will make fun of her for that.

It wasn't cool, and we regret doing it, because it was an attempt to use shame.

Obviously, it didn't take... heheheh....

My one and only concern would be that she not dress like a hoochie, and hopefully not accidently dress to old, if you can get that.

But yeah, I don't even have to ask M. about that, I know she'll agree.

I'm all over your page about the "hoochie"ness. I don't let her wear skirts that are above her knees unless they have shorts BUILT into them. Fortunately, almost all of them do nowadays. I don't let her wear makeup to school. Right now we're having the arguement over whether her belly gets to show or not. I win.

Well done. If she fights to hard, call me, and I'll back you on that one for sure.

She can wear belly exposing clothes and such when she can buy them herself. hehehe...

Hasn't been too much of a problem. She argues to much and gets grounded. No skin off my nose....

Yes and then I will sit back and cringe.

Right there with ya, Babe. Of course, when your 11 year old daughter is built like a 17 year old, those rules are even more important.

Basically, my rule is that she's not allowed to dress like a whore. Anything other than that is debate-able. Sometimes Raven comes out wearing the ***ugliest*** outfits imaginable, and I do my best to not laugh at her. The problem I have is that she's not the most socially gracefull person I've ever met, and since she already has other things going against her (like the fact that she gets 3 haircuts a year, and they're all done in Oregon) I do try to gently help her put outfits together in a generically-pleasing sort of way.

I wore some stuff when I was a kid that I look back on and wonder what the hell I was smoking. =O)

What with the new job and all I really haven't had the time to keep up on my journal reading, so this came as a nice surprise. You see when I was her age I would wear the same type of stuff...and get grief from my mom about it, eventually I did outgrow it (although according to some people I really haven't yet) I am a little surprised she was still wearing the hat, I got it at Cattlemen's on my birthday a couple years ago and she found it when she was here and took it to the beach (I figured she needed a hat, just in case the sun came out ( ... )
