I am very alarmed to get the news about the volcano because I used to have friends in Nuku´ Alofa many years ago. No, we didn´t keep in touch but I will never forget them, it was precious. I believe they have their families now and I do hope they are all right. Tonga Kongdom is very flat and even a week tsunami must have caused damage but the worst is that volcano ash that is poisonous. I think of all the people there.

But I am glad you are safe!!!

Yes indeed, they must have the horrible situation with the ash. Tonga is not a big island…

The problem is that there are many islands there and now the situation is still not clear, the connection was broken.

The underwater cable is broken, but according to information from there, people are mainly safe though there's water damage and of course the ash. We are sending a Hercules now that the air is clear enough for it to fly, and navy ship(s) with supplies and help. A recent flyover shows the sort of damage they get in a bad cyclone, and apparently clean water is a major need.

We had damage to boats in harbour too, in the north, and some were sunk. Some people here also heard the sonic boom, but not us. A farmer south of us said her cows got really upset, but our cats didn't care at all - so much for me wanting a feline warning about earthquakes!

Sorry for the damage - but better than lost lives or injured ones.
I have read that the sonic boom was heard even in Alaska.
Well, I hope you will never need your cats´ warning, my friend!
