patch adams and a love sonnet

so, i was watching patch adams this morning and i heard him recite this love sonnet to his girl and it was just sooo sweet that i had to look it up and read it myself. so here it is:

Love Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things
