I'm going to tell you about the best Valentine's Day ever...although at the time I didn't feel so enthusiastic about it

Actually, I went to the local florist and ordered "a purple flowered living plant". I put a $40 maximum cost on whatever the local florist could deliver. I figured they would send an African violet or pansies maybe. They sent a bush - and you know the rest of the story. I felt terrible Kat's junior year when I found out after the fact that Valentine's Day was a Really Really Big Deal at Chatham Hall. If I had known I would have sent Kat a plant her junior year, but I guess it all worked out for the best.
