He finds his brother in the hotel restaurant, sipping orange juice and reading the New York Times. Nathan looks more relaxed and at ease then Peter's ever remembered seeing him before. He almost doesn't want to interrupt the peaceful scene before him, but he has a duty to do the right thing, be the hero.
"Hello, Nathan."
His brother glances up in surprise and lowers his newspaper. "Peter! Sit down."
"Mom said I'd find you here. Nice diggs." Peter pulls out the chair opposite and sits down.
"Do you want some coffee or breakfast?" Nathan asks, already looking for the waitress.
"No, I'm fine. I came to talk to you and Claire about something important."
"Shoot." He leans forward slightly with interest and puts his glass on the table.
Not sure the best way to go about it, Peter decides to just say it and get the awkwardness over. "I had a doctor appointment yesterday. I have Chlamydia."
"Chlamydia?" Nathan seems to choke on the word, but recovers quickly. "I guess I should get checked out then." He rubs his chin in thought. "This is one of those things where you have to tell everyone you've ever slept with, right?"
Peter feels his face blush crimson, and he stares at the table top to avoid his brother's gaze. "I need to speak to Claire, too. I mean, with her healing ability it's probably not something she needs to worry about, but just in case."
"I'll talk to her. She's still asleep." Nathan's eyes seem to shine brighter when he mentions her, and it's a look that Peter recognizes immediately.
"Nathan! That's disgusting. She's your daughter!" Peter reaches for the sugar packets in the little square dish next to him and starts to rearrange them.
Nathan straightens the paper before folding it closed, pressing it into neat creases and laying it in front of him. "You're one to talk; she's your niece."
"This is the most fucked up family," Peter mumbles once his sugar packets are lined up neatly and he's run out of things to do with his hands.
"I suppose." Nathan stills for a moment in thought and then pulls out his cell phone. "I need to call Danko."
"You're going to turn me in to that bastard because I slept with Claire? That's hypocritical even for you, Nathan."
Nathan shakes his head and scowls. "He needs to get himself checked out, too. What kind of an asshole do you think I am?"
Peter grins in relief and reaches for Nathan's orange juice. He finishes it in a few gulps and sets it back on the table.
"Who else do you need to talk to?" It sounds like a question, but he knows Nathan too well. It's a fishing expedition.
He shrugs and runs down the mental list in his head. "A few people; I wanted to talk to you first."
"Thank you." Nathan is silent for a moment, looking at his phone. "You know, now I have to call Noah anyway. He'll be the one person who can find everyone you need to talk to..."
Peter considers the offer and tries not to picture Noah and Nathan in any compromising positions. He fails miserably and can't stop the chuckle that escapes his throat as his mind provides him with a mental porno movie starring the two men, complete with boom-chicka-bow-wow soundtrack.
Nathan shoots him a look that is clearly a warning and Peter stifles his laughter by wiping his mouth with the linen napkin on the table. It takes all his control not to ask if Noah Bennet removes his trademark horn rimmed glasses when things get steamy. His brother opens his phone and dials without even looking. "Noah, it's Nathan."
Peter listens to Nathan's end of the conversation with mild interest and waits.
"Right, well I'm surprised too. Look, just find out where some people are for Peter, okay? I'll owe you one." Nathan raises his eyes to Peter and motions with his hand.
Peter takes a deep breath and then starts naming names. "Mohinder, Matt, Tracy, Daphne, and Ando."
His brother rolls his eyes as he repeats the list into his phone and then covers the mouthpiece. "Is there anyone with special abilities you haven't fucked? Christ Pete!"
"You're one to talk! People in glass houses..."
"Yeah, that's everyone. Thank you, Bennet, we'll talk soon." Nathan flips his phone closed and rubs his forehead. "Okay, he's working on it."
"Great." Peter was reluctant to leave, his brother always had this effect on him. "Thank you, Nathan. Really."
"No problem. But I have a question." Nathan pauses and puts his phone in his pocket.
"No, I did not sleep with Hiro!" Peter finds courage in his sudden anger and stands up, ready to walk away.
"That's not what I was going to ask." Nathan looks down and then back up. "I was wondering, which one of us is going to tell mother?"
