I think I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best episode, but it certainly provoked some feelings...
I had seen one preview image of Castiel kissing a girl, and it looked to me like they were just pressing their mouths together, so I thought it was an angel that he was becoming friends with and they decided to explore the pleasurable side of humanity together. Well, I was right the woman was an angel, but she was revealed to be a bad guy.
Though at the end it seems like Dean called her a reaper--but I remember her saying April was a nice girl before she took her over (paraphrasing) and reapers don't possess people. Though they die like angels do according to this episode. We saw two reapers die before--one to attempt to break a seal and he didn't die with light as far as I remember, but they were special circumstances...the other was the reaper in "Taxi Driver," but I don't remember the effects of his death when Crowley killed him...
I was happy to see Castiel connect with someone--though I was thinking this girl was an idiot for bringing a stranger home like this (though knowing she was an angel with devious schemes makes sense now)--even if it was a one night stand kind of way. I didn't see her sticking around, and I guess the writers decided to kill her instead of let it be that simple...I did like how Castiel 'died' and Dean's reaction. Then Sam came forward and I could tell it was Zeke even though we didn't see the eyes flash (Good acting Jared! Facial expressions are key!). I sort of wanted him to stay dead, but he's actually getting a little more interesting so I'm glad he's sticking around (on the show).
I actually considered the 'protection' question after Castiel's sex scene, then Dean brought it up later! And of course Castiel had no idea what he was talking about. Hilarious. Dean was so happy to have everyone together, but then the tone immediately shifted when Zeke took over and it got darker.
So Zeke is now isolating Dean. I wanted him to be a good guy (and I suppose he might be), but I just can't trust him. He's acting more and more sketchy. I would say he would have just let Castiel die to get him out of the way, but maybe he saved him to get further on Dean's good side and thought he could get rid of him later. Which worked. I'm really curious about what Dean will say to Castiel about why he can't stay. Very sad. Hopefully he at least sends Cas off to stay with Garth or Charlie or something. Though again he's choosing Sam/what he thinks is best for Sam over anyone else.
I'm wondering if Zeke was upfront about why he wanted Cas gone, or if he didn't want to get found out by Cas? (And it be revealed to Sam.) Either way--selfish reasons.
I did love Dean's lines about lying. He didn't lie to the woman--he was lying to Sam and Cas.
Bartholomew seems like a smart villain. He's one of the first to use Sam and Dean to get to someone else. I think the only other one to do that was Meg back in season 1 when she wanted to get John. Using a televangelist to gather support is pretty clever. He reminds me of Zachariah.
I think the episode was more setting up for future arcs etc. which contributed it to not being the best. There was not enough Sam and Dean perhaps?
I'm sure I have more thoughts, but that's all for now. Can't wait to see what happens next!
