Supernatural 9.5

It was nice to see an Monster of the Week episode that paralleled Sam and Dean's situation again.

A lot of what Dean was saying to Leo (the bad guy chef--who I recognize from somewhere[Spice World Movie??]) and then to Sam at the end can apply to their situation. Especially Dean talking to Sam about power eventually taking over etc. I actually thought Dean was going to confess about Zeke at that moment. He has to realize what he was saying applies to Sam too. Perhaps he was just being cautious because he knew Zeke could hear, and he's already coming up with plans and back up plans (though I'd think Dean would be working on them before this, but maybe it took until now for the realization?). I can't accept that Dean thinks every thing will be fine (except for the guilt over keeping it secret and worrying about Sam's eventual reaction)--he's more pessimistic than I!

I did like the beginnings of the spell on Dean manifesting. It was great to see them slowly realize what was going on. Dean fetching that paper ball was hilarious. That scene also reminded me a bit of soulless!Sam making fun of the skinwalker with a ball. [Also I wonder if that dog is the same one they used in season 6? It's a German Shepherd. Perhaps the same one?] I bet there would have been some hijinks between Sam and dog-like Dean that we didn't see. Looking forward to fanfics!

I also liked how Dean freed the dogs and they sort of became his pack and killed the bad guy. Though I'm wondering why the dog didn't attack the guy who killed his owner at the shop?

Though that's not to say there weren't some problems with aspects of the episode...

Just one I'll mention is that Sam is just accepting that his neck healed. He felt the wounds and the pain and now he's fine. He was just complaining to Dean about what Leo SAID about him ('what are you?'). I thought initially that Sam may think this is some left over trait from the Trails or something---and that maybe he would even try to hide it from Dean? (Since he doesn't like being different.) And maybe that is what he's doing. But I don't accept that he's just letting it go. I think he's suspicious and giving how he's noticed Dean acting strange recently too he's going to keep his own council for now.

Also way to go Zeke on healing Sam but then immediately leaving--not really helpful. But I guess he saved Sam's life and thought Sam would handle it from there. Still not sure of his motives.

Probably lots more to say, but that's all for now!

Looking forward to next week!
