So I don't think I have too much to say and I'm tired, but I wanted to get a few thoughts down.
So I was thinking Garth got turned into a vampire just from the beginning scenes and cows, but werewolf also makes sense.
It was interesting how they brought Norse myth into it. Though the cult wasn't exactly following the traditional myth and were interpreting it to favor them (but that's what most groups do when worshiping/following a religion--though not all to be fair).
Wasn't the preacher the same actor as the uncle in the cult in "Scarecrow" back in season 1? As soon as I saw him I knew things would not be alright, but it turned out he was actually a good guy! So nice surprise.
Dean was very competent during this episode fight wise etc. I liked it. He was in the last ep. too.
So Sam and Dean finally talk a little bit at the end. Some of the issues were raised, but certainly not all. And I don't think anything was actually solved. They are going to work together again which is a start, but tensions will continue to rise I'm sure.
Dean never actually apologized here. He began with the intention of doing so and actually started to say it but couldn't bring himself to...I wonder if it's because he knows he won't be forgiven (right now at least I think he won't be) or if he doesn't WANT to be forgiven...
I'm a little surprised that Sam brought up the church and Dean asking him to stop the Trials as a reason he can't trust Dean anymore. Dean wasn't willing to sacrifice Sam for the world (again). And while there was certainly a cost of stopping (Sam's health) and good that wasn't done (though that's not the same as CAUSING evil--though there can be moral arguments for allowing it to happen I suppose), but can Sam say that he wouldn't have done the same? I think of how desperate he was to save Dean in S1 when his heart was failing, in S2 in the hospital after the wreck, and trying to save him from his deal in S3--and wasn't one of the reasons Sam took on the Trials in the first place was because he wanted to spare Dean that burden and stop him from risking himself? Though I suppose Sam is including himself in saying that all their major problems/mistakes happen "because they're family"--and and implying he's done similar and might again?
The first conversation between Sam and Dean brought out some more implications that possession was like sex(rape). I know several other fans who would fit that into meta.
I liked how Dean invited Garth for the hug at the end.
Was this the episode Misha directed? He wasn't in it...but I think a photo showed that will be script 9.18 or 9.19 I think, so I guess not.
Can't wait to see more!
