It seems to be one of the only disguises he uses when he's remotely being serious. In order this would be the most common followed by the space pirate suit- probably because Zura can be a show-off sometimes. :'D

Hmm, interesting theory, I didn't make the connection that he uses this disguise when he is serious...

Is the space pirate costume really the second most often used? Now that I think about it, it might be, he had it in some 3 episodes... Well, he should wear it as often as he likes, it looks good on him :D

There's also how it's the only costume that doesn't look like a real costume. I think it's his default costume for being undercover since who suspects a monk of doing things?

It could also be a historical reference as Katsura Kogoro was said to have evaded escape by disguising as a beggar. Beggar, monk, for poor penniless Zura they might mean the same thing!

Anyhow, he's worn the monk costume in episode 5, 17, 51, the beginning of the Benizakura arc, in the Renhou arc flashback and this particular episode while he's worn the space pirate costume in episode 13, 15 and 72! Everything was pretty much one-shot if I'm remembering it right.

Good point, his other costumes (except maybe Zurako), attract attention, so they might be not that good for undercover work.

Beggars and monks were pretty much the same thing back then, I believe - because monks also wandered around and asked people for donations... Haha, I wonder if Katsura actually ever got some money given to him xDDD
