At what point does one start celebrating somebody's death-day rather than birthday? At what point does the occasion of their death become more important than their birth? Does it ever? Or is it a year or two after the die?
i celebrate joe strummer's death day... i have a little memorial and such... only because i cant remember his bday and the death-day is convient.
but otherwise, i much prefer the idea of celebrating a birthday. i like the remember people as being alive, espcially those who were close to me. i quess you celebrate the birthday of people you love and the death-day of people from history, etc.
or why not celebrate both and get double the party?
