I usually have a computer on all day so I can jump on to it right away but for the most part, usually am only actually online maybe 1-2 hours a day.  That will change soon, as my hubby is leaving Florida and going to kansas to work next week and I'll be living alone so spending more time on my netbook while watching t.v. at night might be on the

One thing that might be nice to consider would be Skype so that you can talk to hubby while he's there and you're back in Florida. It's free (if you're both on the computer) and you can see each other if you both have video cameras! You have to arrange a time to talk - but it's worth it.

Also - take if from me: when one lives in two places, having one's online life (Facebook, Live Journal, etc.) be a "constant" -- i.e. -- a life that "doesn't" change when you change areas is helpful and kind of grounding.
