Watercolor-Cozy

I love using my travel watercolor kit to paint on the road, or on a hike, or just out and about in general. I recently concocted a funny little device to help me keep my favorite brushes and a paint rag on hand, so that when I grab the kit, all of the tools I want are ready and waiting. Behold my new "watercolor cozy!"

hurry up and patent it before some one steals the idea from you!

after viewing your photos, I immediately grabbed my own W&N kit to see which colors you use more than I do. Do you have a purple instead of a white? That seems far more useful. I have gone through the hooker's green (which I mix with the burnt umber all of the time); my kit is also coated in spots with heavy daubs of Payne's gray (less so now, perchance, but once my hands-down favorite color ever).

It would be an interesting article for the newsletter or journal, don't you think? A survey of guild artists with field kits like this and which colors they lean towards, what modifications they have made to it, how many have actually used that awful brush that comes with it,if they bought the less-expensive gray box or the black one (I no longer remember the difference between the two...) With graphs and images it would make a grand poster session, no?

Yes indeed! Dropped the white and put in a few different kinds of purple, which I've worn down to almost nothing now. I still have your shared sample of Payne's gray in an empty Altoids tin in my studio...don't always remember to bring it out sketching with me, but often wish I did have it (something about cloudy Oregon skies, no doubt.)

I think that graphs and images about watercolor kits would be super-fun. I'm sure you can whip that up in all your copious spare time...! *grin*
