First thing's first: Update on Brother Major
Apart from a Very Large Bandage on his arm, he's doing very well and was due to be discharged this morning. Huzzah. Apparently he feels he wasn't fed enough after his operation.

But here's my question. Does anyone know if a tight chest and pain when taking deep breaths has anything to do with hayfever? My ( Read more... )

Well, if you've been coughing a lot, you might have pulled a muscle. I've never heard of it being associated with hay fever as such. The trouble is, though, chest pain can be a lot of things, including some very serious ones, so I'm inclined to err on the side of doctor-going, though in the circumstances I can see why you are reluctant....

Funny thing is that I hadn't been coughing at all before the pain materialised. I was asthmatic as a child and read somewhere that hayfever and asthma can interact.

At this point I rather wish they would send me home but at the same time I've already been sent home early last week and I don't really want to be making a habit of it.

Ah, yes, chest pain can be connected to asthma, so that might be what's going on.

Your mother could be right about it being a tense muscle, but is there any chance you could get seen as a last appointment one day after work (I've been seen as late as 5:30-6pm before) just to be on the safe side? It's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to chest pains.

I'm with Li. Might be best to try and get a late appointment if it continues, because if it is related to hayfever and your asthma is returning the pollen count is only going to get higher from here on in. May be better to see to it before then.
