A good movie

The human has been watching a movie called The Winter Guest which stars Emma Thompson and her mother, Phyllida Law, as mother and daughter. But even better, from my perspective, it features outstanding performances by two really adorable little kittens. You know they have to be adorable because one of them looks almost exactly like me! 6 degrees of Harry Potter

Sounds like a fun game. Very similar to the drinking game based on spotting familiar actors in all the shows filmed in Vancouver. Apparently it's a small pool of talent up there, because the cross-over is constant.

But Vancouver is one of those cities that stand in for a lot of other places, right? So there must be millions of shows shot there. Does the game involve mostly spotting the guy walking across the street with his dog who happens to be a well-known actor or does it mostly focus on people in featured roles or both?

Alan Rickman certainly seems to have a full career...SP only had a very few things besides GG that one could actually watch.

It's important to choose your favorites carefully for a large range of viewing options. It probably helps if they're old - you can get 20 years of stuff instead of just 5 or 10. But watching the aging process apparently take place overnight is a bit discouraging.

Actually, AR is starting to make me feel inadequate he's had such a full and varied career. And it's not like I need more things to make me feel inadequate.

I am out of my league in playing the 6 degrees of HP game. I am however glad for the movie recommendation. I will have to put it on my list and watch it with my girlies. Sibbie in particular likes to watch other kitties on TV and in movies.

I thought it was really good but it's a bit unusual. It is adapted from a play and it has the feel of a filmed play rather than a really action-oriented movie. Also, despite the star billing of Phyllida Law and Emma Thompson it is actually much more of an ensemble piece that involves stories between 4 pairs of characters: the mother-daughter story, a boy-girl story between Emma Thompson's character's 16 year old son and a girl whose had a crush on him for awhile, the story between the two 12-year-old boys who adopt the kittens and who are very much preadolescents in the sense that they combine little boy sweetness with efforts to be and act grown-up, and a story about two elderly women who go to funerals for entertainment. It all takes place in a small seaside town in Scotland on a day when the sea has frozen. The two sets of kids end up skipping school in celebration of this rare event.
