I find it's a pure appliance and no fun to drive (but then, I'm comparing it either to my motorcycle or to MT's WRX, so... not fair) BUT it sure gets you from A to B and that one's been around long enough that it's had all the kinks worked out of it.
I will take this opportunity to recommend four Bridgestone Blizzaks for the upcoming winter. They make driving in snow like driving on wet pavement. They're awesome and jive really well with the Outback's AWD. :-D
