I like "Izzy"

Today an expecting parent in the neighborhood said that "Isabel" had been on her list of names if her kid was a girl but hates the nickname "Izzy". Um, that's what we call this cherub hanging out on my chest. And no, it's not because of Grey's Anatomy.

For once, the person with a foot in her mouth wasn't me.

Just before Ruth was born, an older lady at my church asked us what we were going to name the baby and I told her. (We weren't keeping it a secret or anything). This old bat went on a 5 minute diatribe about how awful the name Ruth was -- it's apparently this lady's middle name and she has always hated it.

I could barely keep my 8-month-pregnant-hormones in check as I walked away...
