see, I really don't like that. All that ending says is that highschool stereotypes while not entirely separating are more powerful than the humanity that bonds us.

I prefer the director's cut version, where they're all devoured by a Lovecraftian tentacled lugubrious horror from beyond space and time. Apparently, test audiences thought it was too cliche.
