Today we cleaned out the gutters. It did not start out well, because I wanted to use the ladder brace/stabilizer that I'd gotten months ago. We put it together (mainly Pres Man) and then tried it. The danged thing is not right for us. It does not have the depth we need to brace on the house and still get to the gutters. I suspect we're not

If you have a significant overhang you won't really be able to use a stabilizer and still be able to comfortably reach the gutters. If your roof pitch isn't too extreme I would probably get on the roof and clean them from the roof.

If possible, don't lean the ladder against the gutters. Although most of your weight is pushing down to the ground, enough will press against the gutters that it could dent them.

This is exactly why we got the stabilizer, but it looks like we're stuck leaning against the gutters.
