I've applied to various pizza places to be a delivery driver and they take one look at my application and I never hear from them again. I've also applied to retail clothing stores--same thing, overqualified. Macy's also didn't want me because they couldn't afford the salary I was asking for for the Bridal Consultant position (the position is basically like running your own bridal business), and I think I asked for $13/hr. I told them I have outside sales experience, retail experience, office experience--I can bring you business! The response--We love you but we just can't afford you! But I'm sure you'll have no problem getting a job with a resume like this!
Basically, I feel your pain. Good luck finding something. I hope you get something you like and not whoever will take you! I hate it when I see really intelligent, outstanding people being turned down for jobs they don't even really want but they need a job and you know they would kick-ass at whatever it is. Too bad employers can't see what we see.

Yeah, I've pretty much decided that employers really don't care about who they hire, as long as it's someone who they think they can rely on and who won't cost very much. Hey, at least we'll have great stories to tell our grandkids when they're complaining about whatever job they have. "When I was your age, a good job was hard to come by and we appreciated anything we could get." (you have to say it in an old person's voice for it to work).
