Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

It is very hard for someone to do something for another without doing it for yourself. Nothing could compare to giving your life for your country; most of all, doing it not for pride or your own ambition, but to create more peace in an unsettled world. It is very hard to do, not knowing what will come of it, so we pay these many soldiers, past and present, for giving their lives to make this place what it is.
Many years ago young men were sent to unknown places and countries during WWI and WWII. Not knowing what would become of them, they trudged in willingly to help defend the country. I hold great respect for them, being so unselfish in what they did. It took so much courage to do that, and that’s why they deserve this memorial. I would like to show respect for these fallen soldiers, people who died for us so that we may live in a more peaceful America.
Not only the soldiers of the past, but also those of the present, deserve our respect. Just as the soldiers in WWI and WWII gave their lives, soldiers in the War of Iraq are giving their services and lives daily. This cause is not just for America but also for more peace around the globe. Sometimes we are consumed by our own problems that we forget other’s problems. I cannot tell you how amazing it is to know that people maybe a few years older than you are fighting for your safety. To show how much this means to me, I would love to be one who lays the wreath by the tomb.
It’s not many times where someone gets to experience this. To go and show how much I care for this country just by a simple way of saying “Thank you.” A thank you stating what they did for our country was not forgotten. Such a simple thing would mean a great deal to me.
This would be a constant reminder of those fighting for us. Just knowing I said thank you to those unknown soldiers, or even just watching as others said it for me, would make me happy. Experiencing it would be even greater, though, than just watching it. But then again, laying that wreath would just be the icing on the cake to an experience I would never forget.

Tada :D
