To continue...
Saturday:
In every vacation, there is a day that stands out above the rest. A day that says "I am the most awesome day ever!" That day was Saturday. We woke up slightly later than we anticipated, so we missed the Extra Magic Hour. Nevertheless, once we were up and showered and primped and pretty, we headed towards MGM. To kick off the fun things, singing on the bus was met with requests. Ariel and I started singing on the buses to entertain ourselves, and ended up entertaining the kids as well. One little girl in particular had her mom request songs for her. We were told by other passengers that if we didn't work at the park, we certainly should (a nice feeling). The mother of the little girl said "we'll be headed back to the campground at 7pm. Will you be on our bus again?" Much cute.
Upon arrival at MGM, we encountered Streetmosphere. Street characters not unlike the ones at faire. They were doing bits, both with the audience and each other. They were loud, they drew attention, and they kept their spacing. We got pulled into a bit almost immediately. LeRoy Smalls, the talent scout, auditioned us as the new Clabber Girls for Clabber Girl Cornstarch. We got a business card, a small plastic microphone, and a rubber chicken keyring. Was neat ^_^
Then we hit the first ride of the day. As we are geeks, and no good geek can pass up the opportunity to fly with Artoo, that was Star Tours. Not much line at all, since it was early in the day. Then came the amazingness. We were filed into the smaller line for our seats on the 'shuttle,' and as we waited for the doors to open a guy came around and gave us a little blue wristband. Odd, yet interesting. He said he'd explain once we got on the shuttle. So the doors open and we board. Then Tye (which I want to say was his name) came in and asked, "so have any of you ever dreamed of having a theme park to yourselves?" Turns out our shuttle had won one of the prizes in Disney's current "Year of a Million Dreams" promo. We were to meet at the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at 8pm, at which point they'd hold us til the park emptied out and then turn us loose for our "Dream Hour." We had our wristbands and got our "Walt Disney World: Where Our Magical Dream Came True" buttons (which occasioned much saying of 'congratulations' from cast members during the day.)and giggled our way through the rest of the park.
We jumped all over the park, getting pictures with characters (a green army man, Herbie the car, Mr. Incredible, Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable (who was v.hot)). We were picked to be 'cast' in the Backlot Tour. The two of us, plus Brian and Nathan (nice guys) were Captain (me), Mechanic (Brian), and Deck Crew (Nathan and Ariel) in a Crimson Tide-esque special effects demo. We managed to catch up with our tour group after drying off a bit. The kids in front of us were star-struck ("You were the people in the show... Wow.....").
Lunch at the Prime Time Diner. V. yummy. More than either of us could eat. Our server was pretty awesome. Played his part well and made sure that all of his tables were introduced to each other. Evidently another server wanted to be introduced to our table. Marty, I think his name was. He was nice. He said something complimentary, though I couldn't make out what it was. I assume it was complimentary because he mumbled it, then blushed and left after he said it. *shrug*
Rode a couple more rides, then went to the campsite for dinner and a change of clothes. Headed back to MGM for our "Magic Dream Hour," which was kicked off by a rocktastic concert by "Mulch, Sweat and Shears." Much rocking to be had. Wheeeeeeeee! Then they turned us loose in the park. We ran from ride to ride, not having any lines to wait in at all. We did the Tower of Terror twice, and the Rockin' Roller Coaster three times, all total. It was so empty. We've got pictures of the two of us lying down on Sunset Boulevard, just 'cause we could. It was *awesome*! Great pics with Mickey and Minnie Mouse (who evidently remembered us rocking out at the concert, 'cause she gave us 'rock on' horns. Neat!).
Afterwards, we headed for Pleasure Island. Hit the Adventurer's Club, which is an improv comedy club. Again with the faire-like characters. Much fun. Tasty Midori Sour, too. Hit a dance club afterwards, which I wasn't so keen on, but it was late and I was tired. It looked like it'd be a great club if it were less packed and I were less tired. Nevertheless, Pleasure Island was pretty cool. We definitely got on the wrong bus headed back to the campground, though. It was full to the brim of v.v. drunk, rowdy people who all knew each other. It was bad enough that the driver had us transfer buses so that he could take them all straight to their hotel. A couple of nice guys got off with us, though. Good conversation, a bit of flirting. Again, all in all, a pretty darn awesome day.
and that's more than enough for one entry. Sunday and Monday to come later
