This month I've been devouring books. Part of this was caused by the AR (Accelerated Reader) Program that many schools, including mine use. Usually students find out their reading level and set point goals, each book being worth a certain amount of points. The students take a 10 question quiz after reading to earn the points. Sounds interesting! I had not heard of those before.

I love the apocalyptic genre. Have you ever heard of Oryx & Crake? It's all like crazy genetic mutations (but not cat-people or anything). Atwood also wrote The Handmaid's Tale, which I love.

If you check the book out on Amazon, I'd avoid the first "Amazon.com" review, which gives away a pretty big plot point. :( The "Publishers Weekly" is fine.

Apocalyptic and seemingly utopia stories are among my fave. I haven't heard of Oryx & Crake, will add to my list. I have been meaning to read The Handmaid's Tale because I liked the movie.

I'm reading The Transall Saga to my students. It's by Gary Paulsen whose books are all about survival, but this one is also about a boy who seems to be transported to another planet with strange creatures and primitive people . . . but it's actually the future. It's a good one.

I checked that one out on Amazon, I'll have to add it to the reading list!

I haven't been on a reading kick for a while, but am currently working on "The Princess Bride". I probably wouldn't have even been motivated to start that one, but I borrowed it for a friend and want to finish it before I see her again. For some reason I rarely think to read, but when I start a book I'll get really into it and tear through book after book for a while. Until I forget again!

Good read! -Or what U you wish!
I'm so jealous, I can't find the time to read and still have to finish twilight and new moon. Family is keeping me away from my books.
