Your garden looks awesome! I am so envious. My plants are coming along but they aren't even half the size of yours. Can I get some of your soil? LOL. Way to go!
Thanks! Most of my soil I bought (and it was a bit pricey). It is specifically made for square foot gardening. I don't know if it was that, or the great weather we had this year. Usually we are hitting the 100s by the end of April, and this year we held out until the end of May.
I have two 4x4 gardens this year. One is deeper than the other and for some reason the shallower one is doing a lot better. I think it could be drainage issues. Both of them have garden soil in them that we bought (our dirt is like clay on our property, so it was almost impossible to dig enough up to fill them).
I've got dragon carrots, strawberries, green and red bell peppers, banana peppers, cantaloupe, cucumber, yellow squash and tomatoes in the square gardens and then I have more strawberries and several types of herbs in large pots on the patio (those are doing super!). I also planted some celery seeds, but no sign of growth yet. My mom said celery is hard to grow, but I was growing some last year prior to doing raised beds that did well until the crab grass took over my garden. This is the reason I decided to try the raised beds. So much easier to maintain!
