Pirate's Swoop, Tortall, Christmas Day

Dec 25, 2009 01:56

The portal was still open at the bottom of the slope leading up to the castle, but the real action was in the castle. The food was plentiful, the tree was looking pretty impressive and the most important part of all - there were presents galore!

For meeting, greeting, Christmas tomfoolery, food and getting warm by the fireplace. The hall is long and lit only by candles and lamps all around. There are a few servants on hand to keep the drinks flowing and a Christmas tree (real, not plastic), decorated like they did in the days before plastic and electricity. Plenty of gifts under the tree to share around too!

Cameron had a plate of food, of course, and he'd found himself a comfortable spot in the hall. Damn, but he'd have loved this place as a kid. Okay, he loved it now too when there were trees and actual candles in them. Which seemed like a fire hazard, but it was something different.

It didn't take long for Kawalsky to drop down into a seat next to Cam. "Having fun?"

Cameron grinned. "Yes, you're living the life here. Your own castle," he said. "Not too shabby."

Rooms kawalsky December 25 2009, 06:58:38 UTC
There are plenty of rooms, but only one wing of the castle that's liveable. The rooms have large four-post beds with canopies, feather pillows and down comforters to keep warm, a fireplace in each that the servants will keep an eye on until bed time and a wardrobe full of local clothes. There are even baby-related facilities for those who need them.

The Rest of the Castle kawalsky December 25 2009, 06:58:48 UTC
It's in major disrepair. Almost haunted house-y even! The view from the landing high up on one of the towers has a hell of a view though, and the kitchens are of course open for anyone who needs a snack. The cook won't mind preparing something if she's in.
