Aren't they? And just imagine how hard it would be to carve them in the beginning when you can't really even see where you're carving.

They probably also have fairly limited time since the watermelon will spoil eventually.

They probably use the same kinda spray stuff that professional pumpkin carvers use to preserve them. Make them last a few weeks longer, at least.
