My initial impression of the movie was it was really amazing. It was do well done and so much fun to watch. I loved so much about it.
But the more I think about, the more I'm a little disappointed. Obviously HP4 is really long, and it's so impossible to put everything from the books into the movie. And I thought for the job they had, they did a really good job of translating the book. But the first hour seemed rushed. It was a 5 min scene for about 50 - 100 pages of the book and the whole first hour was just exposition really. And at least until the tournament got started, most of the characters hardly had any lines. And that's what I'm disappointed about. All the other movies, to a great extent, kept all the character interaction and developement that was in the book. But all the character interaction in the movie was just a segue into the next "big event" that the movie was showcasing. This movie was missing all the character stuff that actually makes the books what they are.
Like I said, I know how hard that would have been, and it why they even thought about making it actually 2 seperate movies. But I think they could have added a good 20 minutes and it still wouldn't have been too long. It just felt so abbreviated. Hopefully we get an extended edition when the DVDs come out.
Edit to add: That shot at the beginning, when they're all running to portkey, up the hill in the fog with all the high grass? SO beautiful. I want a screencap of that to make my wallpaper or something.
Anyway, I gave blood today to
Beat Clemson. Yay me. I think we've won the Blood Drive more times than we've won the football game. Oh well. Also, traveling to foriegn countries makes giving blood take Forever.
I need to watch The O.C. and Everwood and HP4 specials.
