...what do you say to someone when he tells you that he thinks about killing himself daily?

That's a hard one. They used to say that people who talked about it weren't the ones who actually did it, but that's not true. Usually people who do it spend some time talking about it first

thanks sandy...the problem is is that he's in Alabama so it's hard to keep a good eye on him and if i tried to suggest drugs or counseling he'd just say he can't afford it...money problems are the main cause of the depression he says...

The meds I take when I'm in that state are $4 at wal-mart...that's not too hard to afford. And there are free places to go for counseling and/or prescriptions, but maybe he's not near any of them.

I feel for him. Money problems always make it worse.
