Quick post about Disney World Star Wars Weekends

Jun 16, 2008 17:19

This is just a quick post to say I had a fantastic time in Florida going to Disney World and Star Wars Weekends!  I traveled to Florida all the way from California with RL/501st/Fan Force friends Matt and Dale. What a great way to spend a vacation, Disney and Star Wars all rolled into one! And people who were approved to march in the parade with ( Read more... )

Thanks, I was tired but the 'I'm having so much fun' adrenaline helped counter act it!

I actually felt like I looked like crap. I had wanted to get my haircut before we went to Orlando. It had been months since I cut it and about all I could do was throw it in a stupid ponytail. And for some reason I feel my pilot outfit still looks sloppy. I can't decide if it is the nature of the costume, if I should have fitted my jumpsuit to be a little less baggy, maybe it's just bothering me that my chest box hangs crooked because the hose keeps pushing it to the side. I don't know! This is just my least favorite costume to date :(

You'll have fun when you go to Disney Studios with Ferd! Make sure you see the hyperspace hoopla. It's so bad, it's funny. And unless there is some SWW exclusive you are afraid might sell out, just go to wicket's warehouse at night when there isn't a line. We went first thing in the morning around 11:00am and had to wait in line for 2 hours. It was stupid. Which weekend are you going?

Oh, I'm not planning on going on a weekend. I'll probably just go on a weeknight with Doug actually. :-)

I saw your photo albums, you've got a lot of great pictures! It looks like it was so much fun. Despite the lack of sleep, I bet it was worth it :) I'm so jealous! Your x-wing pilot looks amazing :) How many SW t-shirts do you have btw? Every pic I see of you it's a new one! lol

Oh yes, the trip was worth it and bringing my X-wing costume was worth it despite the lack of sleep. I didn't want to miss out on the pilot gathering!

Hahaha! I have a LOT of SW T-shirts. It would be funny to count how many I've collected from all of these conventions. I like the Stylin shirts and Junk food T-shirts best. But in those SW Weekend albums I was trying on shirts in the stores and didn't actually buy all of them. There were no mirrors in some of the stores, so I'd have Matt take a pic of me in the shirt to see if I liked it! I almost got the white Stormtrooper shirt, but decided I had already gotten enough shirts and I was not in love with the cut of the shirt (I would have had to settle for a size Large children's shirt).

You all make orange look so good! :) The only thing holding me back from doing one myself right now is knowing that I have to make it from scratch. So I hope you get a chance to share your experience in making your own jumpsuit, because I think I'll need every bit of help I can get! lol

I've seen you wear tons of sw t-shirts in the past too, how many do you have?? You should definitely count them. lol

I've been collecting nice babydoll shirts, but there's not much available in oz :( I can't wait to get my 'we are the heroes' shirt! :)

Yeah, I had heard we'd be doing something special for Pilot day so it was a big motivation to get that darn costume finished. LOL!

D: Wow, how DID you survive on that little sleep?? Hahaha. I guess the inspiration of fun and fandom? You do look truly happy in that one photo, though. Love the smile!

Honestly, I have not gone without sleep like that since I was about 19 years old. I've tried to go without sleep at conventions and failed miserably. Somehow I guess just the excitement of it being Disney World kept me going. And I made sure I took a ton of vitamins every day.

Mmm yes, vitamins are good. Is there anything you find particularly helpful for faintness/lightheadedness (esp. during that certain week of the month)? I remember you mentioning that problem in your review of Costume Con. I've been having problems with dizziness recently, despite taking hideous amounts of vitamins and eating lots of red meat.

Well, I might have been getting sick during Costume Con too. It was strange. But it usually helps to take Iron supplements, as it can be common for people to become anemic around that icky time of the month :( Eating things with iron in them helps too, but sometimes may not be enough.

I guess I just got lucky on this trip. I took vitamin C and Zinc every day too since those are both supposed to help your immune system. I guess it all worked, and I was lucky this was not at the same time as Costume Con! Come to think of it, just about EVERY con is at a bad time for me. Why are all these big cons at the end of the month?

I really like this picture. You caught a great shot of their Padme.

You look great. I'm glad you got to go. Disney World is wonderful.

Matt got that photo of their Padme. I hear she is new, and in the past they have not had a Padme so a RL Padme got to be in the parade. Audtoo was bummed, thinking I should have been in the parade with my purple gown. But with the heat and the way we were drenched with sweat, I would have ruined my costume if I'd worn it.

They have a Padme in their Dancing with the Star Wars Stars (same outfit in 2007 & 2008). So, I figured it was her.
